This is an Architectural history, in German, three parts in one book, nicely illustrated with elevations, plans and architectural details and ornament, parts published in 1867 and 1868, each part with it's own two-page title pages; First Part: Die Baustyle des Alterthums (Egypt and Ancient Middle east, Greece and Rome) Leipzig 1867, 130 pages; 182 illustrations; Part 2. Die Baustyle des Mittelalters (Byzantine, Romanesque, Gothic periods) Leipzig 1868, 124 pages, 162 illustrations; Part 3. Die Baustyle der Newuzeit, (Renaissance, Italy) Leipzig 1868, 66 pages, plus 2 p. of book ads; 47 illus. Book condition: the end papers have darkened considerably, the text, apparantly of much better paper, is little affected; edges are marbled, and have darkened some; cover corners show board at all four corners, circa 25% of the leather cover on these corners has worn off; the lower board corners are bent a little; the leather spine is intact, but the leather hinges are starting to crack; spine has lost its brown stain, although the title lettering and decorative details in gilt are still plain. The hinges and binding are tight, and 390 rather detailed Fig.s are a testament to the patience of the artists-draftsmen of Imperial Germany, who, I fear didn't get any credit for their effort in this volume, and probably deserve plenty.
