Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book is set in the late 1800s against the backdrop of social and religious changes in Denmark, detailing the lives of peasants and priests at a time of great upheaval and unrest. It offers a rare and immersive glimpse into the ways of life on the Roeskilde Fjord and the social and political forces that shaped Danish society at the time. The central figure is a young priest named Emanuel Hansted who finds himself at odds with the traditional authority of the church and the emerging movements toward social justice and equality. The story arc follows Emanuel's struggle with his faith and his place in the community over the course of his time at the parish, as he encounters challenges to his beliefs and authority from within and outside the church. Through vivid characters and beautiful descriptions, the author explores themes of doubt, change, and the essence of faith in an ever-evolving world. This book thus provides a captivating historical fiction that delves into the complexities of religious and societal change and their impact on the individual. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
