Aufgrund des Machtaufbaus der Nationalsozialistischen Arbeiterpartei warnt Horvath in seinen Werken zunehmend vor den Gefahren des Faschismus. Zwischen den Jahren 1930 und 1932 veröffentlicht Ödon seine Volksstücke, die auf moralisch-satirische Weise Kritik an der zeitgenössischen Gesellschaft üben. So schildert er besonders eindringlich alle Facetten kleinbürgerlicher Mentalität. Allerdings zeigt er nicht nur die Niedertracht, Dumpfheit, Brutalität und den Selbstmitleid der modernen Gesellschaft, sondern verweist gleichzeitig auf die sozialen und ökonomischen Bedingungen, die jene Gesellschaftformen. Das Spätwerk, das in der Zeit zwischen 1933 und 1938 entsteht, ist durch eine ethisch-religiöse Ausrichtung bestimmt. Horvaths schonungslos sezierende Beobachtung weicht nun einer humanistisch- moralisierenden Nachdenklichkeit. Seine fatalistische Weltanschauung von der unveränderlichen Gesellschaft und den scheinheiligen politischen und religiösen Lehren wandelt sich im Spätwerk. Während der junge Horvath Kirche und Gott in seinen Stücken nur negativ beleuchtet, finden sich im Spätwerk positive Wertungen dieser Themen.

Wesentliche Unterschiede gegenüber dem Expressionismus sind jedoch nicht zu übersehen: Seine klare und nüchterne Sprache unterscheidet sich vom erhitzten Stil und der Auflösung der Form bei den Expressionisten. Außerdem sind seine Beschreibungen von Angst und Weltabkehr nicht subjektiv dargestellt, sondern in traumhafte Parabeln veranschaulicht und objektiviert. Des weiteren wird im Expressionismus konsequent eine Wende gefordert, in Kafkas Werken bleibt die Auflehnung gegen die Autorität allerdings eher in der Schwebe. Aufgrund des Machtaufbaus der Nationalsozialistischen Arbeiterpartei warnt Horvath in seinen Werken zunehmend vor den Gefahren des Faschismus. Zwischen den Jahren 1930 und 1932 veröffentlicht Ödon seine Volksstücke, die auf moralisch-satirische Weise Kritik an der zeitgenössischen Gesellschaft üben. So schildert er besonders eindringlich alle Facetten kleinbürgerlicher Mentalität. Allerdings zeigt er nicht nur die Niedertracht, Dumpfheit, Brutalität und den Selbstmitleid der modernen Gesellschaft, sondern verweist gleichzeitig auf die sozialen und ökonomischen Bedingungen, die jene Gesellschaftformen. Das Spätwerk, das in der Zeit zwischen 1933 und 1938 entsteht, ist durch eine ethisch-religiöse Ausrichtung bestimmt. Horvaths schonungslos sezierende Beobachtung weicht nun einer humanistisch- moralisierenden Nachdenklichkeit. Seine fatalistische Weltanschauung von der unveränderlichen Gesellschaft und den scheinheiligen politischen und religiösen Lehren wandelt sich im Spätwerk. Während der junge Horvath Kirche und Gott in seinen Stücken nur negativ beleuchtet, finden sich im Spätwerk positive Wertungen dieser Themen. 16 pp. Deutsch.
