Man soll te jedoch nicht den falschen Schluß ziehen, empirische sozialwissenschaftliche Forschung sei in ihren Ergebnissen wertlos und nichts anderes als eine Quelle von Fehlern. Nach der Darstellung der wichtigsten bekannten Fehlerquellen werden in diesem Buch zwei mögliche Auswege aUfgezeigt. Einmal gilt es, die Artefakte besser als bisher zu kontrol lieren und soweit wie möglich zu eliminieren. Zum zweiten gilt es,neue sog. nicht-reaktive Verfahren zu entwickeln und zu erproben, bei denen die Gefahr der Ergebnisverzerrung niedriger ist als bei den konventionellen Untersuchungen. Diese beiden Strategien sollten dabei aber nicht als Alter nativen,sondern als sich ergänzende Vorgehensweisen aufge faßt werden. Das Buch wendet sich daher an Soziologen, Sozialpsychologen und Psychologen, die bereits eigene Erfahrungen mit verschie denen Erhebungsinstrumenten gemacht haben und wurde vor allem für jene Sozialwissenschaftler geschrieben, die Unge nügen an den herkömmlichen Routine-Forschungstechniken empfinden.
