[ISBN: 9789492432278].Published in a limited edition for the members of the circle of literature lovers 'Flanor' and for a few interested outsiders. - Text in French. -- The relationship between the French philosopher Jacques Maritain (1882-1973) and the Dutch priest Wouter Lutkie (1887-1968) was rooted in their shared interest in Neothomism and Catholic renewal in the early 20th century. Their contact is primarily documented in an extensive correspondence spanning from 1916 to 1926. Lutkie was an admirer of Maritain and saw in his work the path to an intellectual and spiritual revival of Catholicism through the teachings of Thomas Aquinas. Through Lutkie, Maritain exerted influence on the early years of the Dutch magazine De Gemeenschap, which centered on ideas regarding a Catholic avant-garde. Although initially kindred spirits, they grew apart ideologically. Maritain developed towards a Christian democracy and "humanisme intégral," while Lutkie felt increasingly drawn to fascism and the figure of Mussolini.
