A reply to the English propaganda campaign in support of their war with Scotland (1542 - 9) and an interesting companion piece to the well known Complaynt of Scotland, the manuscript contains a detailed discussion of the English claim to superiority and of a number of more specific grievances. It is of considerable linguistic significance, especially as the only known manuscript is apparently nearly contemporary with the composition of the work'.
