Hardcover. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Fine. 1st Edition. 288 pages ISBN 9780060099084, 0060099089 OCLC 658231298 ; blue-grey and red cloth in pictorial dustjacket ; The New York Times bestseller about Flight ninety-three's brave men and women on September eleven, 2001-the day that changed how Americans view the…world and themselves.; Of the four horrific hijackings on September eleven, Flight ninety-three resonates as one of epic resistance. At a time when the United States appeared defenseless against an unfamiliar foe, the gallant passengers and crew of Flight ninety-three provided for many Americans a measure of victory in the midst of unthinkable defeat. Together, they seemingly accomplished what all the security guards and soldiers, military pilots and government officials, could not-they thwarted the terrorists, sacrificing their own lives so that others might live.; The culmination of hundreds of interviews with family members and months of investigation, this powerful and deeply moving book is a lasting testament to American heroes. ; "By the conclusion of the book, the reader has a sense of knowing everyone on the plane, and to a greater or lesser extent shares in the love and the sorrow." - Christian Science Monitor ; FINE/FINE. Hardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. Very Good+ dj. First American Edition. [nice clean book, the only blemish being very light sun-browning along the top edges of the covers; the jacket has a bit of edgewear and a few tiny nicks along the top edge, and some very minor surface wear]. Novel based on the author's own experiences in o…ccupied France during World War II, and the basis for his feature film directorial debut, the 1967 release LE VIEIL HOMME ET L'ENFANT. It's about a 9-year-old Jewish boy living in Paris during the Nazi occuptation who is sent by his parents to live with an elderly Catholic couple on their farm, to lessen the chances of his being deported to Auschwitz. The dust jacket for this edition employs the same graphic design (by Saul Bass) as the poster for the film's American release. Illustrated by (dj design) Saul Bass; (illustrations) Lydia Rosier (illustratore).
