Vol One has wear at the head and tail of the spine and at corners in addition, the binding is loose at the front and back covers, and the covers are starting to separate themselves from the block of pages. The gilt lettering on the spine is clear and readable except for a smudge on the word "history" at the base of volume one. Volume two is equally old but in better condition, with similar wear at the spine and corners, but without the smudge and with covers that are more soundly attached.
