Rajarhat also witnessed the violation of environmental policy. The vast wet land, which was the oxygen producer for the city of Kolkata, has been filled up for the realty development. The book certainly adds some important dimensions related to the study of development. About The Author: Kakali Chakrabarty, is an anthropologist by profession. She explored varied fields of anthropological interest like women studies, regionalism, folk tradition, cultural syncretism and so on. She has a number of publications in reputed journals and books. She has one book and a number ofedited books in her credit. Krishna Mandai, is exposed to a vast area of research in different parts of India including Andaman Islands. References. From the introduction: Nayachar Island an emerging land mass in a dynamic estuary, is formed of transported deposits. It is expected that in the course of development the predominant characteristics of the island soil were those inherited from the parent material. Mangroves are a group of typical topical and specialized trees growing in the saline and brackish water system.
