Kürzlich aber hat mir ein wahrheitsliebender Mann . versichert, solche Denkmäler des Unsinns und der Barbarey auf einer Reise durch Deutschland noch gefunden zu haben. Man sollte sie wohl namentlich an den Pranger stellen!' Mit diesen Sätzen eröffnet Christian August Fürchtegott Hayner, der Direktor der Anstalt Waldheim in'Sachsen, eine kleine Schrift, die den Titel trägt: 'Aufforderung an Regierungen, Obrigkeiten und Vorsteher der Irrenhäuser zur Abstellung einiger schwerer Gebrechen in der Behandlung der Irren', 1817. Also etwas Historisches: Nichts, was uns zeitnah angehen würde ,1817' - das ist lange her: Im Jahre 1817 war Pinel noch am Leben. Johann Christi an Reil, der 'deutsche Pinel', war erst vier Jahre tot. Esquirol begann im Jahre 1817 in der Sal p~triere zu Paris mit akademischen Kursen in Psychiatrie. Jacobi ist 1817 noch ein unbekannter Mann. Wilhelm Griesinger wird im Jahre 1817 geboren.
