Die Wirksamkeit dieser Mikrofinanz-Selbsthilfegruppen bei der Verringerung der Armut in ihren mehrdimensionalen Aspekten wurde untersucht. Die ausgewählte Stadt liegt im Süden Indiens mit einer großen Bevölkerung aus einkommensschwachen Gruppen. Die durch die Mikrofinanzierung in diesem Abschnitt herbeigeführte Veränderung hatte sich als sehr wirksam erwiesen.
