Wear to extremities; soiling and darkening to boards and spine; binding broken and separating; rear joint cloth separated from top of spine two thirds down… at which point the cloth is torn across the spine (repaired); rear inner hinge paper separated although hinge intact; front hinge starting at lower edge; endpapers foxed; a fair copy. From the library of golf author Colonel Robert D. Jones with his decorative bookplate to front pastedown. Gift ALS from legendary woman golfer Cecil Leitch (winner of 4 British Ladies Amateur, 5 French Ladies Amateur and 1 Canadian Women's Amateur titles) tipped-in to front pastedown explaining the previous ownership of the book which include Robert Whyte, early Vice President of the Ladies Golf Union and Mabel Stringer, the first female golf journalist, founder of the Girls Golfing Society and Veterans Ladies' Golf Association and early assistant-secretary of the LGU). Both Whyte's and Stringer's signatures to ffep. In her note Leitch explains 'I "adopted' her and she became Auntie Mabel to young and old women golfers. She gave this book to me.' A scarce title with a unique association.
