Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book investigates racial and religious prejudice in the United States, particularly within the context of sports. The author, a sports columnist, draws from his experiences observing a softball game between a Chicago sandlot crew made up of whites, Negroes, and Japanese. The book argues that America's sports culture demonstrates that a person's value is measured by their actions and not by their race or religion. The author also argues that discrimination is expensive and wasteful, and that it is ultimately counterproductive to the success of any team or organization. This book is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of race and sports in America, and it offers important insights into the ongoing struggle for racial equality. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Hardcover. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Fine. 1st Edition. The foreward of this unusual (maybe one of a kind) book is by James R. Thompson, former Governor of Illinois This copy is not only signed by Governor Jim Thompson and dated 1987 but is also signed by Tom Hayden on page 237 who is featured in the book. Tom had been married to Jane Fonda, has been a very colorful political activist and author and was on trial in 1968 with the world famous Chicago Seven (Judge Julius Hoffman, Abbie Hoffman, Bobby Seal, etc) The Governor Thompson signature was acquired for me by Jim Romano of Tree Studios/Antiques who was a business partner with Governor Thompson for many years. Tom's signature was acquired at book signing here in Chicago and I have another book signed by Tom.
