Mac Conmara's prose forms part of the mid-20th-century canon of Irish-language narrative literature published under the authority of Oifig an tSolathair, whose early printings are increasingly sought by collectors of Irish-language history, education and state publishing. This copy carries the characteristic early state typography, wide-margined text design, and the tall, slightly coarse cloth grain typical of Oifig an tSolathair bindings of the 1920 to 1935 period. The 28-chapter structure (contents clearly intact) includes literary, political, and social commentary pieces, notably The Felons of Our Land (XVII), suggesting a cross-pollination between Revival-era romantic nationalism and later cultural writing.
