Le Voeu de Marguerite Maeght est le catalogue de l'exposition consacrée par le musée de Draguignan, du 7 juin au 22 septembre 2024, à la commande exceptionnelle faite par Marguerite Maeght à Marc Chagall, Jean Bazaine, Raoul Ubac et Diego Giacometti pour le décor de la chapelle Sainte-Roseline. En 1968, Aimé et Marguerite Maeght… accueillent leur premier petit-fils. Pour Marguerite Maeght, il ne fait aucun doute que sainte Roseline a entendu ses prières.En remerciement à la sainte provençale, elle entreprend de financer entièrement la restauration de l'ancienne chapelle des Arcs-sur-Argens lui étant consacrée. En plus du décor ornemental préexistant, Marguerite Maeght sollicite le talent de Marc Chagall, Jean Bazaine, Raoul Ubac et Diego Giacometti pour doter le lieu d'oeuvres nouvelles. Depuis lors, vitraux, sculptures et mosaïques côtoient le corps enchâssé de sainte Roseline, à la manière d'un ex-voto moderne témoignant de l'alliance entre modernité et maîtrise des savoir-faire traditionnels.Le catalogue Le Voeu de Marguerite Maeght approfondit le discours de l'exposition en revenant sur la genèse d'une commande aussi personnelle qu'atypique. Un essai est consacré à sainte Roseline, moniale chartreuse ayant vécu entre le XIIIe et le XIVe siècle, en mettant l'accent sur la naissance de sa légende dans l'historiographie et la production artistique lui étant dédiée aux XVIIe et XIXe siècles.Le livre est également l'occasion d'explorer les liens autant professionnels que personnels d'Aimé et Marguerite Maeght avec les artistes ayant oeuvré au nouveau décor et la relation de ces derniers au sacré, la proposition de chacun s'inscrivant dans une forme très personnelle de relation au divin. L'ensemble, rédigé par des historiens de l'art, s'appuie sur différents documents d'archives, études préparatoires et témoignages inédits.Le Voeu de Marguerite Maeght est le catalogue de l'exposition qui se tiendra au musée de Draguignan du 7 juin au 22 septembre 2024.

Redécouvert par le grand public à l'occasion de l'exposition "La peinture en Provence au XVIIe siècle", organisée à…Marseille en 1978, Jean Daret, qui a travaillé pour les mécènes les plus importants de son époque, dont le roi Louis XIV ou encore le gou. verneur de ProvProvProvence, demeure peu connu. Il naît à Bruxelles en 1614 et s'installe à Aix-en-Provence, où il se spécialise dans la décoration de demeures et participe à l'ornementation de nombreuses églises et couvents. S'il a aussi oeuvré un peu à Paris, la production méridionale de Daret est grande : il travaille y pour une clientèle privée qui lui demande des scènes mythologiques, des portraits, des scènes de genre ou de dévotion. C'est lui qui réalise, par exemple, les magnifiques peintures marouflées commandées par le seigneur de Covet pour son château de Marignane. Son chef-d'oeuvre est le décor en trompe-l'oeil de la cage d'escalier de l'hôtel de Châteaurenard, à Aix-en-Provence, qui lui vaut d'être remarqué par le roi Louis XIV, en 1660, et d'être nommé "Peintre du roi" . Les recherches récentes ont mis au jour de nombreuses découvertes. Cet ouvrage, première publication consacrée à cet artiste flamand, est l'occasion de les partager et de reproduire un ensemble exceptionnel des productions les plus importantes de l'artiste : tableaux, dessins et gravures, mis en regard de tableaux de grands maîtres du siècle, tant parisiens (Simon Vouet ou Jacques Jacques Blanchard) que provençaux (Nicolas Mignard et Reynaud Levieux ou Gilles Garcin).
