This work was adapted from a German story with no known author. Compiled and altered by Matilda Betham Edwards, a prolific poet, novelist and children's author. Wonderfully illustrated with a frontispiece and hand coloured page adornments, by T. R. Macquoid. Bound in the publisher's original blue blind-stamped cloth. Externally, very good, with some rubbing to the extremities and a little loss to the backstrip head. Split to the tail of the front joint. Hinges have been reinforced. Ink inscription to the verso of the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound, with tape reinforcing the gutter of page 42-3. Pages are bright and clean, with the odd handling mark. Good. T. R.
