September 1943 in Winterberg) ist eine deutsche Erziehungswissenschaftlerin. Sie ist Autorin von Büchern zum Thema Schriftspracherwerb und Legasthenie sowie Begründerin des Valtinschen Stufenmodells des Schriftspracherwerbs. Leben: Renate Valtin studierte von 1962 bis 1966 in Köln und Hamburg die Fächer Germanistik, Romanistik, Psychologie und Pädagogik. Ihre erste Lehrerprüfung für die Volks- und Realschule legte sie in Hamburg ab. Sie bekam ein Promotionsstipendium der Stiftung Volkswagenwerk von 1966 bis 1968 und promovierte an der philosophischen Fakultät der Universität Hamburg in Erziehungswissenschaften bei Roeder. Von 1969 bis 1975 war sie dort Wissenschaftliche Assistentin. Leistungen: 1974 erhielt sie eine Gastprofessur an der Universität Buffalo in New York. Sie bekleidete danach eine erziehungswissenschaftliche Professur an der PH-Berlin mit dem Schwerpunkt Vorschulpädagogik und Schuleingangstufe von 1975 bis zur Integration der PH 1980 und ging zur Freien Universität Berlin an. Seit 1992 war sie Professorin in der Abteilung der Grundschulpädagogik an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. 1982 bis 1996 hatte sie den Vorsitz des Arbeitskreises Grundschule e.V. im Grundschulverband und war von 1988 bis 1999 Herausgeberin der Reihe Beiträge zur Reform der Grundschule. Seit 1990 ist sie Mitglied des Berliner Bildungsrats. Seit 1994 arbeitet sie an der Konzeption der Primarstufenlehrerausbildung im Rahmen des Potsdamer Modells der Lehrerbildung mit. Valtin ist Präsidentin der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Lesen und Schreiben und hält Vorträge. Im selben Jahre erfolgte ihre Wahl zur Fachgutachterin der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft München und ist Mitglied des Deutschen Jugendinstituts. Die Liste ihrer Veröffentlichungen umfasst ca. 250 Texte. Von 2001 bis 2004 war Valtin Mitglied im Konsortium von IGLU 2001 (Internationale Grundschul-Leseuntersuchung). Schwerpunkte ihrer Tätigkeit sind die Legasthenie, Schriftspracherwerb, sozial-kognitive und moralische Entwicklung von Kindern und Jugendlichen (Konzepte von Freundschaft, Strafe, Lügen, Höflichkeit, Geheimnis), geschlechtsspezifische Sozialisation und Koedukation und grundschulpädagogische Themen zur Leistungsbewertung und Integration behinderter Kinder. . .
