Illustrated throughout by black and white photographs, including portrait frontispiece and facsimile letter. Decorated by title page vignette. Decorative pictorial endpapers. The text of the first part was by Captain Lewis Anselm da Costa Ritchie (1886-1967), naval officer and maritime author, who used the pseudonym, 'Bartimeus.'
