Why isn't it raining fish Or one could as: Why isn't it raining cats and dogs in Germany, but 'Bindfäden' (twines) In this presentation I want to engage in the field of idiomatic expressions containing animal names. As this group is unmanageably wide, I will concentrate on phraseological units that are connected to cats and dogs. After having given a short general linguistic overview of the field concerning idioms, I will concentrate on the possibilities of using idioms in primary class. I will not only give arguments for it but also present material one could use in class.…

It is beyond all doubt, that the great poetry of Ovid (43 BC - 17 AD) had a strong influence on William Shakespeare's work. Understandably enough, as Ovid's work is a classical masterpiece of Latin literature. It fascinates with its formal perfection, urban humour and Ovid's creative fantasy. His outstanding opus is of course the Metamorphoses, the magnificent epic poem containing about 250 transformation legends of Greek and Roman mythology. Ovid's interests in myths show also the heroides, which include fictitious love letters. Love - this is undoubtedly a central theme in Ovid's literature. His writings Amores, Ars amatoria and Remedia amoris display that. Although Ovid's literature was banished from public libraries by emperor Augustus after the poet's death, his posthumous fame could not be prevented - fortunately. Ovid's work had a great influence on medieval literature and during renaissance his mythological stories had been example for many novellas .The role of Ovid's greatest opus, the Metamorphoses in Shakespeare's work, especially in his comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream, is going to be discussed in this paper. At first the focus lies on Ovidian literature in Elizabethan times. Then, the parody of Pyramus and Thisbe in A Midsummer Night's Dream will be analysed. A special kind of metamorphosis - the one of Bottom brings up the third main emphasis.By the way - what is a metamorphosis It is said to be a process in which somebody or something changes completely into something different - for example a caterpillar that becomes a beautiful butterfly.…

Zwar mag niemand bestreiten, dass die Kinder von heute nicht in einer von den Themen und Problemen der Erwachsenen isolierten Welt aufwachsen, dennoch scheint für viele der Gedanke befremdlich, dass Politik in der Lebens- und Gedankenwelt von Kindern im Grundschulalter eine Rolle spielt. Zudem wird auch bei Erwachsenen über mangelndes politisches Interesse geklagt kann man da politisches Wissen bei Kindern erwarten Befürworter der politischen Bildung bereits in der Grundschule plädieren dafür. Sie sehen eine frühe Auseinandersetzung mit politischen Themen als Voraussetzung für erfolgreiches Weiterlernen in der Sekundarstufe und noch wichtiger für die Entwicklung mündiger Bürger in einer Demokratie. Politisch-soziales Lernen verfehlt ( ) seinen Sinn, wenn es nicht auch die moralische Erziehung als eine wichtige Aufgabe und die Entwicklung moralischer Handlungs- und Urteilsfähigkeit als wichtige Ziele begreift und Probleme der Moral nicht als zentralen Inhalt begreift. (Henkenborg 1996: 51). Reinhardt (1999: 338) begründet diese Notwendigkeit mit der zunehmenden Unsicherheit und Unbestimmtheit des individuellen und kollektiven Lebens . Moralisches Lernen gehört also ganz klar zu politischer Bildung. Moralische Dilemmata können hierzu einen wichtigen Beitrag leisten. Sie haben im Unterricht die Kraft, Schülerinnen und Schüler in Auseinandersetzungen über moralische Fragen zu verwickeln, sie zur Klärung ihrer Entscheidungen zu befähigen und die Notwendigkeit und Möglichkeit von Begründungen erfahren zu lassen.
