The following chapter addresses quasi-one-dimensional flows, the study of normal shock waves, and flow in ducts with constant cross section subjected to friction and/or heat transfer. It also investigates the effects of friction and heat transfer in ducts with variable cross section. Ao entrar em contato com uma solução de ácido sulfúrico, um processo de eletrodissolução é iniciado na superfície de contato do eletrodo gerando uma fina camada de concentração. Por sua vez, a viscosidade do fluido aumenta ao passo que o coeficiente de difusão diminui. Experimentos anteriores mostraram que uma pequena instabilidade de corrente emerge nas curvas de polarização na região a partir da qual a corrente elétrica depende do transporte de massa. Resultados provenientes da análise de estabilidade linear do sistema acoplado pelos campos hidrodinâmico e químico revelaram a existência de uma região instável onde perturbações são amplificadas. Neste trabalho, o Método dos Elementos Finitos é usado para simular a resposta temporal do processo de eletrodissolução modificado por perturbações convenientemente escolhidas na região instável. Resultados numéricos constataram a influência dos modos químicos observada nos experimentos.…
