Many black and white illustrations, complete. Alphabetical Index in the back. Pages and covers are very clean and intact overall. Covers have slight wear with rubbing in the upper-left corner of the front cover, upper-right corner of the back cover, and along the spine. Small marks and scuffing on front and back covers. This is a trade catalog with listings of various supplies including drills, benches, brooms, brushes, and thermometers, among many others. On the title page, "Railway and Mill Supplies Division Offices" are listed with the address, "452 Communipaw Avenue, Jersey City, N. J." Executive offices are at the "Chrysler Building, (135 East 42nd St.,) New York City, N. Y." The cable address is "Cognition, N. Y." Introduction page includes the following: "It is not possible to compress into the pages of this book the story of the organization the book represents. The most that can be shown is pictures and prices of merchandise. Leading manufacturers of mill and railroad supplies have learned out of sixty years dealings in the metropolitan area that the service given to you by this organization insures them the widest possible distribution and largest possible volume of sales of their manufactured goods." Verso of the introduction page includes information about Manning, Maxwell & Moore's subsidiaries including Consolidated Ashcroft Hancock Company, Incorporated; Shaw-Box Crane & Hoist Company, Incorporated; and Industrial Instrument Repairs and Manufacturing Division of Manning, Maxwell & Moore, Incorporated. Manning, Maxwell & Moore, Incorporated (MMM) was founded in 1881 by Henry S. Manning, Eugene L. Maxwell, and Charles Arthur Moore as a railroad engineering supply company. The company's predecessor was H. S. Manning & Company in New York which had sold a variety of machine tools. MMM was acquired by Dresser Industries in 1964. In 2010, Dresser Industries was bought out by General Electric.
