Aggiungi al carrelloHardback. Condizione: Very Good. W.H. Margetson (illustratore). Third Impression. 1906. Third impression. xii, 347pp. and 16 black and white illustrations by W.H. Margetson. Top edge gilt. Samuel Rutherford Crockett (1859-1914) was a prolific Scottish novelist. "The White Plumes of Navarre" is a historical novel set during the tumultuous period of the French Wars of Religion, focusing on the events leading up to the St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre in 1572. The narrative intertwines the lives of significant historical figures such as Admiral Coligny and Duke of Guise with fictional characters, including the young protagonist John Stirling and Claire Agnew, as they navigate the treacherous landscape of faith, loyalty, and political intrigue. The book is bound in the original dark green cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with shelf wear and light soiling to the boards. There are few light stains on the rear board. There is a small dent that has caused a little damage to the cloth near the bottom edge of the rear board and the spine ends are bumped. The contents are tight and clean with foxing to the fore edge of the text block, and on some pages the foxing has seeped a little way into the fore margin. There is no inscription.
