Folded as originally received in a plain brown sheet of protective wrapping, with a red adhesive strip sealing the poster within. An identical strip (now removed) was placed over the the reverse of the poster no doubt resulting in the tiny rubbed spot previously noted) One of the most lovely and fragile graphic renderings of the tragic star we have ever seen. Vintage studio still photograph of Marilyn Monroe (dressed as an "usherette") and a group of photographers at the 1956 film premiere, held at the Victoria Theater in New York, in benefit of the Actors Studio. Monroe was a longtime supporter of the Actors Studio. She and her then-husband, Arthur Williams, were both in attendance at the premiere. Based on Tennessee Williams' 1946 one-act plays "27 Wagons Full of Cotton" and "The Unsatisfactory Supper." A spoiled, virginal teenage girl is caught between the unfulfilled passions of her middle-aged husband and his amorous business rival, a Sicilian with a monopoly on local cotton plantations. Vintage wardrobe test shot of actress Marilyn Monroe in a bikini, taken for the unfinished 1962 film. The studio would later retouch the test shots released to the public to hide Monroe's abdominal scar from a gallbladder surgery in 1961. Based on the 1940 screwball comedy "My Favorite Wife," the Twentieth Century-Fox remake would have been a return to film for Monroe, then coming back from a yearlong reprieve from acting-the result of drug addiction and several serious health issues. Midway through production, in June, 1962, the studio would fire Monroe, citing "spectacular absenteeism," only to rehire the actress months later, purportedly at the insistence of costar Dean Martin. Filming was set to restart in October, but in August Monroe would be found dead of an overdose at her home in Los Angeles. Most of the film's completed footage would remain unseen for years, until rediscovered in the late 1980s and assembled into a one-hour documentary, "Marilyn: Something's Got to Give" (1989). 8 x 10 inches.
