The holistic auditory effect of reading is crucial for understanding and is based on the dynamic contextual prominence of words. Some parts of the text are foregrounded by means of style and syntax and have a clear dynamic auditory image, other parts are relegated to the background and form the basis of the art of declamation. The aural canvases of timbre formed by the foregrounded peaks of the auditory perception form a new vision of the narrated reality that may revolutionize our views of how we understand the written content. This book reveals the formerly hidden aspects of many familiar texts, including those written hundreds of years ago. It may serve as a supplement to the regular courses of stylistics and rhetoric in language schools, universities and courses of language development.
