Half-Calf. Condizione: Very Good. Browne, Hablot; Marshall, C.;Salmon, I (illustratore). First Edition. First edition. No publication date, c. 1851. 8vo. Half calf over marble boards, 6 compartments, gilt decoration to spine, all edges gilt, marble endpapers. 50 fine steel engraved plates, including frontispiece and engraved title vignette. 211 pp. Contemporary ownership signature of G. P. Lascaridi, b. 1820 Prusa/Brusa, Asia Minor, d. 5 September, 1889 in Corfu, Greece/Hellenes, a merchant in London, insurance and discount agent, dealer and chapman. Brief genealogical statement laid in. Some of the steel engravings by Hablot Browne [pseud. Phiz] (1815-1882), For much of his life he signed his work Phiz, but on occasion in prints, and often in other media, he identified himself by his real initials or name, as he does in this book. Others, unsigned, still have very recognizable Dickens-like characters in the foreground. Some foxing, most engravings untouched. Rubbing to board at extremities. Very good.
