In dieser Arbeit nun untersucht der Autor, inwieweit Professionalität organisationsrelevante Konsequenzen hat, d.h. ob und wie sie bei der Gestaltung von Organisationsstrukturen zu berücksichtigen ist. Der Autor erarbeitet ein Konzept der professionellen Dienstleistung zuerst so, dass insbesondere die potentiell organisationsstrukturellen Konsequenzen dieses Leistungsumfelds herausgestellt werden. Die Organisationsstruktur wird als Teilaspekt des Professionalitätsphänomens abgegrenzt sowie ein differenziertes Konzept zur Integration der vielfältigen strukturellen Idealtypen zwischen Professionalität und Bürokratie entwickelt. Die drei Hauptgruppen von Kriterien zur Analyse der Wirkungen alternativer Strukturausprägungen - Effizienz, Interessendienlichkeit und Systemwirkungen - werden spezifiziert und für die Anwendung in empirischer Untersuchung wie in der Gestaltungspraxis operationalisiert. Im Gang der Untersuchung werden die Problemfelder der Dienstleistung und der Organisationsstruktur sowie der drei Wirkungsdimensionen zunächst konzeptionell unter Zuhilfenahme von Theorien bearbeitet. Für die dabei verwendeten theoretischen Ansätze wird jeweils geprüft, inwieweit die expliziten oder impliziten Annahmen eine Anwendung auf den Erkenntnisgegenstand der professionellen Dienstleistung zulassen. Im empirischen Teil werden die theoretischen Aussagen empirisch überprüft und - soweit sie sich bewähren - induktiv-differenzierend weiterentwickelt. Zum einen soll so ein vertieftes Verständnis von Zusammenhängen zwischen Professionalität und Organisationsstruktur und damit eine Steigerung der Rationalität des Gestaltungshandelns im Bereich professioneller Dienstleistungen erreicht werden. Zum anderen mà chte der Autor zur Erweiterung des systematisierten, gestaltungsrelevanten Wissens zum Zusammenhang von Professionalität und Organisationsstruktur beitragen.
