His extensive use of philosophical sources is balanced, however, by an equally thorough biblical foundation of his theology. While staunchly upholding the perfect concordance between natural reason and reve…lation, Eckhart never proclaims the sublation of Sacred Scripture into the philosophical concept but develops his theological approach from within the biblical text in its ineliminable positivity. At the same time, he does not consider the Bible as a radically different source of knowledge whose principles are at odds with the natural world and human reality. Eckharts philosophical and theological speculation goes hand in hand with a hermeneutical effort that seeks to decipher the inexhaustible richness of meaning of both the biblical text and human existence and to point out their profound interconnectedness. Ultimately, his exegesis presents itself as a hermeneutics of life, where Sacred Scripture and concrete lived experience mutually elucidate each other in order to reveal the whole of reality as a fabric of meaning. The articles contained in this volume were initially presented at a colloquium on 18-19 October 2016, in Vienna. The different contributions examine Eckharts hermeneutical approach from a wide range of perspectives, including philosophy, theology, history, philology, exegesis, and spiritual practice. Jahrhunderts. Insbesondere der denkerische Ansatz Martin Heideggers scheint mit seiner radikalen Kriti…k der gesamten abendländischen Philosophie einen definitiven Schlußstrich unter die Metaphysik setzen zu wollen, die sich - von Aristoteles bis Husserl - in ihrer Eigenschaft als 'Erste Philosophie' immer in der einen oder anderen Weise als Versuch einer Letztbegründung des Denkens und der Wirklichkeit verstanden hat. Dementsprechend wird Heidegger oft als Ahnherr einer 'nachmetaphysischen' oder 'postmodernen' Philosophie in Anspruch genommen, die dem Ideal der begründenden Rationalität zugunsten eines 'besinnlichen', spielerisch-anarchischen oder dionysisch-gewaltsamen Denkens abgeschworen hat. Das vorliegende Buch versucht, die Frage nach Ort und Bedeutung des Spiels in Heideggers Denken in neuer Weise zu stellen. Im Gegensatz zu bisherigen Interpretationsansätzen wird der Ursprung des Spielmotivs bereits in Heideggers Frühdenken aufgewiesen und vor dem Hintergrund seiner phänomenologischen Voraussetzungen entfaltet. Davon ausgehend, erscheint das 'seinsgeschichtliche' Denken des mittleren Heidegger als ein Versuch, die Metaphysik gerade nicht abzustoßen, sondern sie in das Spiel der geschichtlichen Erscheinungsformen von Sein und Denken mit hineinzunehmen. Beim späten Heidegger ist das Spiel dann vor allem von seiner musikalischen, klanglichen Bedeutungskomponente her verstanden, in der die der Metaphysik eigene Dominanz des Visuellen implizit überwunden wird, ohne dabei die 'Grund-sätze der Metaphysik als solche zu negieren. Heideggers 'Überwindung der Metaphysik' im Zeichen des Spiels erweist sich somit als das genaue Gegenteil einer programmatischen These oder gar einer ein für allemal feststehenden Doktrin; stellt sie doch den einmaliger Versuch dar, im Bewußtsein der unaufhebbarenBedeutung der abendländischen philosophischen Tradition dem Denken einen neuen Spielraum der Freiheit zu eröffnen.
