Gilt lettering on spine. Former ownership inscription in blue ink on front free endpaper with "Lawrence Moore" and his address. Page…s and covers are very clean and intact overall. There is some tearing on several of the pages in the back of the book, but it is limited to the last story, "Attic: Under the Roof," and is mostly in the side margins. A collection of short stories by the American essayist and novelist, Donald G. Mitchell (1822-1908), who also went by the pen name, "Ik Marvel." The stories are inspired by the author's travels and include the following: "Basement: Serving for Introduction," "Wet Day at an Irish Inn," "Account of a Consulate," "The Petit Soulier," "The Bride of the Ice-King," "The Cabriolet," "The Count Pesaro," "Emile Roque," and "Attic: Under the Roof." This book is referenced in the Bibliography of American Literature (BAL), no. 13941: "Binding 'B'; no priority.".
