Der Schwerpunkt der Studie liegt auf Kohlenstoffstahlrohren. Die Bodenproben wurden aus drei verschiedenen Regionen entnommen: Boden 1: lehmiger Sand, Boden 2: sandiger Lehm und Boden 3: Sand, diese drei Proben wurden aus einer Tiefe von 0-50 cm entnommen. Die Korrosion der unterirdischen Rohre wird zu einem ernsten Problem sowohl in Chemieanlagen als auch in öffentlichen Versorgungsbetrieben, so dass der kathodische Schutz zur Beseitigung der Korrosion eingesetzt wurde. Die Bodentextur hat einen erheblichen Einfluss auf die Korrosionsrate, der höchste Wert der Korrosion war (13,637 %) in Boden 2, während der niedrigste Wert (9,383 %) in Boden 3 war. Der kathodische Schutz hat eine signifikante Auswirkung auf die Verringerung der Korrosionsrate, wobei die Korrosion des geschützten Rohres (1,462 %) betrug, während die Korrosion des Rohres, das unter den gleichen Bedingungen, aber ohne Schutz, vergraben war, (11,267 %) betrug. Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterobacter cloacae und Staphylococcus aureus, diese drei Bakterientypen oxidieren das Eisen, das heißt, es ist korrosiv.
