Henry Beston, geboren 1888 in Quincy (Massachusetts), 1968 in Nobleboro (Maine) gestorben, war Autor zahlreicher Bücher. Die Aufzeichnungen aus dem "Fo'castle", dem "Vorschiff", wie er seine Bleibe taufte, sollten eigentlich nicht an die Öffentlichkeit gelangen. Bestons Verlobte Elizabeth Coatsworth sorgte aber dafür, dass er seine Notizen ausarbeitete: "No book, no marriage". "Das Haus am Rand der Welt" erschien 1928 und wurde umgehend zum Erfolg." (Verlagstext mareverlag) Cord Riechelmann (* 1960 in Celle) ist ein deutscher Journalist, Biologe und Philosoph. Riechelmann studierte Biologie und Philosophie an der FU Berlin. Als Lehrbeauftragter unterrichtete er Seminare zum Sozialverhalten von Primaten und zur Geschichte biologischer Forschung. Außerdem schrieb er als Kolumnist und ?Stadtnaturreporter? für die Berliner Seiten der Frankfurter Allgemeinen Zeitung.
