Hardcover. Condizione: Good. No Jacket. Undated with the title page noting "Ninth Edition", ca. 1890. Some splitting to the front and rear hinge papers and separations between a few pages but the binding remains tight and intact. Heavily illustrated. Beautiful covers and spine printed in gold and black. This copy is from a 19th Century private lending institution, the Mercantile Library of New York City. There are no external indications of the library's ownership. A handwritten number and Mercantile Library stamp are on the title page and some of the internal pages.

Intricate tooled decoration to blue cloth boards, with gilt titles. Corners and spine scuffed, with a minor split in the cloth at the head of the spine. Gilt textblock edges. End papers foxed. A neat dedication on the flyleaf. Some minimal cracking at the hinges, but textblock firm and unaffected. Contents remain clear throughout. A good condition book overall.
