Quarto. Text in French. Vol. I. Texte:79pp. Description de Trois Monuments Fune raires de L'ancien Empire E gyptien. (Description of three funerary monuments from the ancient Egyptian empire.). Vol. II. Planches: Photographies exe cute es par l'auteur en collaboration avec le Dr. Ch. Mathien. (Photographs taken by the author in collaboration with Dr. Ch. Mathien). After publishing his early work on the Primitive Art of Egypt, he published the current two volumes which is regarded as his master work. Later, he organized the Foundation Egyptologique Reine Elisabeth. The celebration of the centennial of the deciphering by Champollion and the discovery in the next year of the tomb of King Tut-Ankh-Amun led to Queen Elizaeth and Prince Leopold in Egypt to having him join them to the newly discovered site. Bound in a modern ¼ brown leather over marbled paper covered boards, paper label to upper boards, spine lettered in gilt. No names or bookplates. A fine set with remarkable early photographic views of the area discovered first by M. Victor Loret who began the excavation in 1897-1899. He never had the time to finish his exploration. It was later carried out by Jean Capart and Charles Mathien.
