Sallieth á Rotterdam 1788.[NL] Allegorische voorstelling op het herstel van de stadhouder Willem V en zijn inhaling in Den Haag op 20 september 1787. Gerechtigheid opent de poort voor een jonge vorst (prins Willem V), zodat de weg naar Den Haag voor hem vrij is. Wangunst en Gewapende Woede proberen tevergeefs de deur tegen te houden. De Provincie Holland geeft hem de commandostaf terug. Rechtsvoor de Hollandse Leeuw met het jaartal 1766 (toen de prins stadhouder werd). Op de achtergrond graveert de Dankbaarheid de namen Brunswijk en Rhoon op een erezuil. Vanuit de hemel kijkt het Alziende Oog neer op de gebeurtenissen. Antieke gravure door Mattheus De Sallieth. He collaborated with publishers on atlas projects and produced refined copper engravings after contemporary draughtsmen. His work forms part of the late 18th-century Dutch tradition of detailed harbour and city views.Biography artist: Dirk de Jong (active c. 1780-1810) was a Dutch draughtsman known for topographical and maritime designs. His drawings served as models for engravings in atlases and series depicting Dutch cities and sea-ports during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Condition: good, given age. Light foxing, creasing, and soiling. Middle folds as issued. Small tears at bottom middle folds professionally refibered. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling.
