The work originally was exhibited at the Studio Museum in Harlem in 1979. This 2012 show was the first time that Bey's series was shown and published as a complete set. Five previously unpublished photographs from the same period are also seen here for the first time. A fine, fresh copy without marks or wear.

Bey was awarded a well deserved MacArthur genius award and has been the subject of numerous recent museum exhibitions. A lovely copy of this book that features some of Bey's best images.
