Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware - Puppilein by Maureen J. OlsonIn 1944 Munich, a young girl named Clara comes of age in a nation unraveling under Hitler's rule. Once proud of her German heritage and her father's courage, Clara slowly begins to see the world around her change-neighbors disappearing, Jewish families vanishing, and the comforting hum of her father's radio shop replaced by fear and silence. As war tightens its grip, Clara's father Paul is drafted to fight for a cause he no longer believes in. When his letters suddenly stop arriving, Clara and her mother fear the worst-that he has deserted the army or met a terrible fate. But what Paul has truly done, and the secret he carries, will change Clara's understanding of courage, conscience, and love forever.Inspired by true events and family history, Puppilein traces one Bavarian family's struggle to hold onto decency and hope during the darkest years of World War II. Told through the voice of a child growing up under the shadow of tyranny, the novel paints an extraordinary portrait of innocence challenged by ideology-and of a father's quiet defiance that teaches his daughter the meaning of moral strength.Through vivid scenes drawn from real German history, Maureen J. Olson explores how ordinary people were swept up, silenced, and tested by the Nazi regime-and how one girl's love, faith, and memory became a testament to truth.Puppilein is a moving, heart-wrenching story of conscience, family, and survival-told from a German perspective rarely heard, yet deeply human and unforgettable.

Condizione: Sehr gut. Zustand: Sehr gut | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | It's the miracle of a child with their new exciting skill of reading that I love so much. And when they can find themselves in the story, it becomes even more profound. After reading My Blanket, my granddaughter Malia, was convinced that this story was about her specifically. It was easy for her to think about how many different ways that she has enjoyed playing with her blanket and some of the various ways that others, even animals have used their blankets. I was excited to hear how well she related to this story. She is correct in the fact that this book has been written for her age group, those from 6 and up, that are reading on their own. It is also a story that would be easy to read to your child and would spark conversation about their own blanket, family life and extraordinary everyday life together. I think this story is suitable for anyone, any age group, anywhere, any location or country and anytime! My inspiration for this book comes from the comfort of such scriptures as Psalm 62:6 in the Passion Translation, that talks about how He alone is my safe place and His wrap-around presence always protects me. Gagnon, Sandy (illustratore).

Hardback. Condizione: New. Illustrated. In the 1990s federal laws were created to encourage the teaching and speaking of American Indian languages. The ""Dictionary of Jicarilla Apache"", developed within the auspices of the Jicarilla Apache Nation Cultural Preservation Program with support from the Jicarilla Apache Nation Tribal Council and funding from the National Science Foundation, provides documentation of Jicarilla Apache, an Eastern Apachean language, and is intended to provide the basis for classroom and home teaching of the language. This is the first large-scale dictionary of any of the Eastern Apachean languages. The editors are scholars specialising in Native American languages who worked with Wilhelmina Phone, Maureen Olson, and Matilda Martinez, native Jicarilla speakers. Together they created this dictionary, which will be a valuable teaching and learning tool for instructing children and young adults in the Jicarilla Apache community who otherwise have no sustained contact with their heritage language. Today there are fewer than three hundred native speakers of Jicarilla Apache, and the majority of them are elderly. The school-age population is in the hundreds and this dictionary has been specifically developed to support language learning in their schools. Other Apachean peoples, as well as linguists and anthropologists, will find the dictionary useful as well. Included here are over five thousand entries organised both alphabetically and by semantic field. The 'Dictionary' also includes a grammatical sketch of the language and a guide to using the dictionary, in addition to the Jicarilla Apache to English dictionary, an English to Jicarilla index, and a lexicon organised according to semantic domains such as plants, animals, household items, etc., and for nouns and for verbs and semantic and grammatical groupings such as descriptions, activities, and motion verbs.

Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. Puppilein by Maureen J.
