Diary of the great-granddaughter of Jonathan Edwards and niece of the President of Yale University. Margaret Van Horn Dwight(1790-1834) left New Haven to go to Warren, Ohio, and the home of her cousins. She kept this diary of her journey by covered wagon and sent it to her cousin Elizabeth Woolsey. Hardcover. Bound in plain gray paper over boards with cloth over spine. Paper label to cover, "Yale Historical Manuscripts." 64 pages. Ex-Library with Discard stamp inside cover for Niagara Falls High School Library. Scuffs and wear to binding with cloth over spine lifting from cover on back. A few small stains. Good condition.

Hunt, who was a professor of history at the University of Souther California and the University of the Pacific. Hunt wrote several books on the history of California, and was named 'Mr. California' by Governor Goodwin Knight in 1954. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good.

This is Volume 3 of the first edition which was issued in 1911 in three volumes by Yale University. This is Volume 3 ONLY of the three volume set. It is bound in the publisher's original brown cloth covers with gilt spine lettering; the top edge is also gilt. The covers are spotted and there is a previous owner's bookplate on the front paste down as well as a previous owner's name in pencil dated 1912 on the front end paper. The covers are spotted, however the contents are clean and the book is tight. The first edition of this work is uncommon. Contains: Appendix A - F, Index of the Clauses of the Constitution, and General Index. This is not the later 1937 revised edition--it is the first 1911 edition.
