Brossura. Condizione: new. A cura di M. Castellana. Milano, 2020; br., pp. 162, ill., cm 12x24. (Denkstill. Teorie della Conoscenza. 1). Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book provides a comprehensive exploration of the methodologies employed in critically examining the fundamental principles that underpin mathematics. The author argues that while traditional metaphysical approaches have been employed to justify these principles, they are ultimately inadequate as they rely on subjective and abstract concepts. The author posits that the genuine critique of mathematical principles must instead be based on objective scientific methods, and that the history of mathematical theories and the development of new concepts are essential to this process. Through detailed examination of specific theories, such as the concept of number and the principles of geometry, the author demonstrates how this approach can be applied to shed light on the foundations of mathematics. Ultimately, the book challenges the notion that mathematical principles are derived from absolute truths and instead positions them as the product of an ongoing process of scientific inquiry and refinement. This critical examination provides valuable insights into the nature of mathematical knowledge and its relationship to the broader scientific endeavor. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
