The ink stamp of the National Food Reform Demonstration Council appears on the title page, while the period ink signature of vegetarian George Snape of Wolverhampton appears on the half-title. A bit of minor darkening and wear along the extremities, with some scoring to the rear board; else very good. Scarce, OCLC locates only six copies, with none in commerce. The Reverend Professor Mayor (1825-1910) was the president of the Vegetarian Society, succeeding Francis William Newman in 1883. This collection of sermons and papers includes a speech entitled "What is Vegetarianism?" and a homily on fasting and simplicity of life.
