Light rubbing, soiling and a few small ink stains to boards, faint dampstaining to head of spine, light wear to spine ends and corners. Moderate toning and light foxing to interior, faint dampstaining to head of text block along gutter. A very good copy of a rare title. $1,500. * Only edition. Mayrhofer was a lawyer and legal scholar who lived and practiced in Linz. Little is known about him. He was the author of four treatises but it appears he never held any academic or judicial posts. The title pages of his work state he was a Rechten Doktor. Anmerkungen Uber die Allgemeine Gerichtsordnung is an annotated guide to the 1781 code of civil procedure of the Habsburg Empire. Commissioned by Emperor Joseph II, an advocate of Enlightenment-inspired reform, this code established a single system of courts and procedure throughout the empire. (It was superseded by the Zivilprozessordnung of 1898). It is considered an early and insightful look into the implementation of Joseph II's significant judicial reforms. OCLC locates 2 copies, neither in North America (Municipal Library of Trento, National University Library of Strasbourg).
