Hardbound. Condizione: Good. 1st Printing. Description: Well illustrated in black and white. ''By 1929, San Jose had a fine public transportation system. Interurban cars sped through the nearby blossoms fields to carry the traveler to the suburbs of Los Gatos and Saratoga, to the university city of Palo Alto, or to the wild, rugged Alum Rock Park. There was a city trolley network, too and frequent suburban steam trains up the Peninsula to San Francisco. San Jose and the Santa Clara Valley has its own unique transpiration history; It started with horsecars along The Alameda, a fine, tree-lined avenue. Then followed a series of events that made and used up the fortunes of local nabobs and corporate tycoons alike. progressed through a unique and unpractical underground electric line, and entered a period of expansion and consolidation when the Southern Pacific took over. BINDING/CONDITION: burgundy binding; a Good book, with a Fair dust jacket; publisher's price on the jacket flap is intact. index. Photo endpapers. 11.25 inches tall by 8.75 inches wide. 177 pages.
