Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Good. 1st Edition. Yes, 40-ish, Sicilian-born Big Band tenor sax player Musso (years with Benny Goodman and Stan Kenton) tries to hop on the "rock 'n roll" bandwagon with this 1957 entry on Crown -- the Bihari budget label. Backed by an electric organ, no less. His vers…ion of Bill Doggett's "Honky Tonk" isn't bad, while critics seem to agree the cut called "Speak Easy" is actually an Elmore James tune -- though whether it's "I Believe" or "Dust My Broom" no one agrees (some arguing that Elmore James only HAD one tune.) But all that sort of misses the point. Look at the dancing couple on the cover of this 12-inch, 33-1/3 rpm, "Ultra High Fidelity" (mono) vinyl record album (Crown CLP 5029, very-good-plus vinyl in a "good" cardboard jacket with bottom edge split.) No, not the strange garb on Miss Incisors. That young leading man is handsome, 22-year-old Doug McClure, who in 1957 was still mixing some Southern California modeling appearances (as did such disparate stars-to-be as Princess Grace. Yvette Mimieux, and Mary Tyler Moore) with occasional parts on "Death Valley Days," five years before he landed the role of a lifetime as Trampas on the endless TV series "The Virginian," and two decades before his sort-of comeback in "At the Earth's Core" and "The Land That Time Forgot." (Let us brook no discussion of "Humanoids from the Deep.") But beyond that, this album jacket is SIGNED by Vido Musso! Really! In green ink! (or is that pencil?) What would a Weird Vinyl / Stars as Jacket Models collection be without this? And it's now been reduced from an already reasonable $50. Cover photograph of Doug McClure & date by Mel Buxbaum / Art Direction & Production by Florette Bihari (illustratore). Inscribed by Author(s).

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware - 'When Zecco first wiggled out of his egg, he was a tiny thing, less than an inch and a half long. At that time, he had no idea that he was anything special in the world. But as time went by and he began to mature, things started to change. And Zecco became something the world had never see…n before. Something so strange, so exotic, so amazing, that he defied explanation.' So begins The Many Worlds of Zecco the Gecko, the illustrated middle grade novel that tells an entertaining story full of action, adventure and humor. In this book, Zecco, a Mediterranean house gecko, who is part of a scientific experiment to give animals human intelligence, escapes from the lab and goes off in search of adventure. He soon meets up with Erin and Robby, two science students who worked in the lab (and who facilitated his escape), and he also meets up with other escaped former lab animals. Just as he had hoped, Zecco finds plenty of adventures out in the big wide world. He forms a friendship with a rabbit, locates a dog that has become trapped in a dry well, assembles the Mission Amazing Task Force to attempt a rescue, and finally puts together a plan to stop the bad scientist from doing really bad science. The book is also an entertaining way for students to learn how good scientists do good science by using the scientific method, and how they can treat lab animals ethically and humanely.
