This is a historical baseball book by Ernest Mehl (sports editor of the Kansas City Star) and published in 1956 by Henry Holt and Company. This book gives a firsthand "inside story" of the Philadelphia Athletics' move to Kansas City in 1955. They played in Kansas City from 1955 to 1967 before moving to Oakland, CA. Maris began his major league career in 1957 with the Cleveland Indians and was traded to Kansas City in June of 1958. In December of 1959 he was traded to the New York Yankees. So somewhere in the 1957-1958 seasons someone with the Athletics found a stack of these books and began having the players sign/inscribe the 1956 books. Maris' career blossomed after the KC stay to include World Series games and Home Run crowns. A clean very presentable copy in a Brodart mylar jacket. Signed by others involved with.
