Until 1987 when it appeared in Spain, it was relatively unknown in Europe. It is non-contagious but can have mortality rates in the 80% range. Donkeys and zebra seem to be less susceptible to its effects. Over these 344pages, a variety of contributors write about the : Epidemiology, Entomology, Molecular Biology and Vaccine & Diagnosis aspects of the disease. Lots of tabular medical and biological data, as well as b/w micrographs of tissue and colour representations of VIRUS architectures.
