First edition. Edwin Muir (1887-1959) was a Scottish poet, novelist and translator. Born on a farm in Deerness, a parish of the Orkney, Scotland, he i…s remembered for his deeply felt and vivid poetry in plain language with few stylistic preoccupations. His wife, Willa Muir, made extensive translations of many German authors including Franz Kafka. These were issued under their joint names but his wife notes that he "only helped". Condition Former library copy with usual library markings and stamps, corners bumped, spine ends rubbed, front end paper clipped with book plate else a good copy.
