Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. After Judson Merrill publishes a story that becomes fodder for conspiracy theorists and fuels a violent clash, he's desperate to write something--anything--that rises above our toxic online hysteria. When he discovers a daring and brilliant researcher studying the poisonous effects of conspiracy theories, Merrill is convinced she holds the key to diagnosing America's demented culture. But shortly after she agrees to an interview, she vanishes, and any possible diagnosis vanishes with her. Merrill's search for her takes him across Europe and turns up a trail of unsettling research and confounding clues. The story he pieces together offers an explosive explanation for our collective sickness and reveals the many ways in which our media, our communications, and our very beliefs have become fatally diseased. If he can unravel the sprawling conspiracy behind our affliction, he'll still have to convince a paranoid world in which everyone believes what they want to believe. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Prima edizione Copia autografata
Hard Cover. Condizione: Fine binding. First Edition. 5-3/4" x 6-3/4." 18 pp. (including pastedowns), illus. Limited edition, number 3 of 9 copies. Signed by Goodale and Merrill. Vertically oriented accordion binding with gray cloth over boards and title stamped in silver on the upper cover; all housed in clamshell with a drypoint etching recessed into the lid of the box. Merrill has penned a beautiful poem that plumbs deep into the relentless nature of human striving for understanding, for purpose, and for hope and wonder. Just as Merrill's poem pulls, hand-over-hand, that rope of emotion out of the sea, Goodale's drypoint etchings drive us back into the sea, each page of gray paper, washed darker as she takes us deeper and deeper, with different creatures and sea life as we go. And through it all, Merrill's rope to the ocean floor is suggested in the illustrations. Signed.
