Der Verlauf der Geschichte dieses Bauwerks, das als achtes Weltwunder gilt und dessen flache Kuppel als 'schwebende Kuppel' bezeichnet wird, hat in mir große Interesse geweckt. Daher bin ich zu dem Entschluss gekommen, die Hagia Sophia als Thema für meine Präsentationsprüfung zu wählen.Die Hagia Sophia gilt als das achte Weltwunder, wegen ihrer flachen Kuppel und ihrer prachtvollen Innenausstattung, die mit Marmorplatten und Mosaiken verziert wurde. Im Türkischen wird sie 'Aya Soyfa' oder 'Ayasofya' genannt. Vermutlich würde die Hagia Sophia im Deutschen Sophiakirche genannt werden. 1453 eroberte der Osmanische Herrscher Fatih Sultan Mehmed ll. Konstantinopel (das heutige Istanbul). Somit endete die Geschichte des römischen Reiches, so wie auch die Geschichte einer der prachtvollsten Kirchen auf der Welt. Die Hagia Sophia diente bis zu diesem Punkt der Orthodoxie und dem byzantinischen Reich als Hauptkirche. Sie blieb weiterhin als Gotteshaus bedeutend, doch die Osmanen verwandelten die Kirche im Jahre 1453 zu einer Moschee, die im Nachhinein bis 1932 als Hauptmoschee genutzt wurde.
