En frances, 318pp con numerosas litografias fuera de texto de Mesnel, falto de lomo en piel pero resto perfecto, Bibliotheque des ecoles et des families, SOBRE EL ILUSTRADOR:: "Bestiario" de Antonio Tempesta, y de otros autores, grabadores e ilustradores de la época: Andrés Ferrer de Valdecebro, Diego de Obregón, Noël Antoine Pluche, Albin Mesnel, y otros más contemporáneos como Claudio Gay y Mauricio Rugendas. 18 libros que nos introducirán a la "historia natural", y a la evolución de esta ciencia expresada en sus hermosas ilustraciones.Albin Mesnel nació en 1830, en la Manufacture des Gobelins, donde su padre era un artista de la tapicería. Durante su infancia, estudió dibujo bajo la dirección de MM. Mulard y Abel Lucas, profesores de la fabricante. En 1845, estudió para convertirse en un ilustrador de la naturaleza en el estudio de M. Delahaye, él mismo de haber sido un artista en la Manufacture des Gobelins. Mesnel retenido ese puesto durante unos diez años, contribuyendo a los grabados que se encuentran en la Enciclopedia de Chenu y l'Histoire des Picidés por M. Hizo sus primeros estudios en su ciudad natal para continuar después en París, donde se graduó de doctor en medicina en 1827. Como muchos médicos de los siglos XVIII y XIX se interesó profundamente por las ciencias naturales, hasta tal punto que llegó a ser nombrado en 1828 director del Jardín Botánico del Museo de Historia Natural de Rouen, institución a la que se vinculó durante toda su vida. Compartió además esta actividad con clases que impartió en la Escuela Superior de Ciencias y Letras y, a partir de 1838, en la Escuela de Medicina, ambas en su ciudad natal.
