Remarkable performances by Yvonne Loriod of some lesser-known, seldom-performed Messiaen piano works. REPERTOIRE: La Dame de Shallot (1917), Fantaisie Burlesque (1932), Piece pour le tombeau de Paul Dukas (1935), Rondeau (1943), and the 35-40-minute birdsong-inspired La fauvette des jardins ("The garden warbler"; 1970). CONDITION: The disc (professionally cleaned before testing for this ABE-listing) has general moderate surface noise, but no skips or major explosions. The music and Yvonne Loriod's magnificent interpretations come through beautifully. Its jacket is unmarked and uncreased, with minimal edge-wear and only faint ring-wear. The LP is now in a new audiophile inner sleeve and the entire album is nestled in a strong mylar outer sleeve. It will be cleaned again before being securely packed and promptly shipped, domestically (USA) and internationally.
