The Original German Libretto, with a correct English Translation, and the Principal Airs and Gems of the Opera arranged as Piano-Forte Solos, by distinguished Professors. Huguenots. Published at The Theatre Ticket Office, No. 111 Broadway, New York." The Title Page reads: "The Huguenots. Die Hugenotten. A Serious Opera in Five Acts. The Music by Giacomo Meyerbeer. As Represented at the Royal Italian Opera House, London, and The Academy of Music, New York. New York: Published at the Academy of Music." No date, although late 1873 or very early 1874, published shortly following the performance at The Academy of Music. The contents are as follows: splendid illustrated advertisement for Weber Grand Square, and Upright Piano-Fortes (to inside front cover); Title Page; advertisement The Weber Piano-Fortes: Opinions of the most Distinguished Artists (the latest of which is dated December 6, 1873); Dramatis Personae; Argument; the complete opera (The Huguenots - Die Hugenotten) in Five Acts (with German verse on left pages, and English verse on right pages); Die Hugenotten (Musical Score); advertisement for Weber to inside rear cover and rear cover ("'Weber' of New York Receives the Highest Award at the U.S. Centennial Commission"). Condition: front and rear covers soiled (but not badly, and not impacting the often bold cover typeface); covers show narrow chipping along lower overhang, short closed edge tear, periodic narrow chips along outer spine; the lightest of foxing to interior pages. Exceptionally rare.

Eight quarter pages to the first several pages in the program list the opera performances - Verdi's La Traviata, Meyerbeer's L'Africaine, Belli's La Sonnambula, Rossini's William Tell, Rossini's Semiramide; Wagner's Flying Dutchman; Mozart's Don Giovanni; and Wagner's Lohengrin - for each of the eight days at Music Hall, Cincinnati, Ohio (from Monday Evening, January 29th [1883] to Saturday Evening, February 3d [1883]) as well as the names of the Characters and Vocal Performers. The first several pages also contain charming, historical advertisements, including a full-page steel engraving of the Wm. G. Fischer & Co. Building ("Union Works: Stove Range & Furnace"); Diagram of the Parquette or Auditorium (at 211 Vine Street); separate biographies of Joseph R. Peebles' Sons' Life of Verdi, Bellini, Rossini, Mozart, and Wagner; businesses offering tickets for general or reserved seating. The title page of the opera beginning on page 17 reads "L'Africaine: A Lyric Drama, In Five Acts As Represented at the Royal Italian Opera, Covent Garden. Italian and English. The Words by Scribe" following with the Argument, Dramatic Personae, length and times of the performance ("assuming the performances commence at 8, carriages may be ordered for 11.30"), and then the opera itself in five acts (Italian and English). Condition: covers are detached but present and show light to moderate soil as well as periodic small edge and corner chips and short closed edge tears; the internal pages show a few small corner creases and two narrow edge chips (to blank margins only). Exceptionally rare.
