The story chronicles the life of Texas Ranger Leroy Wiley during the tumultuous period after the Civil War when the Texas Rangers were all that stood between the pioneer settlers and violence on the Texas Frontier. Leroy is out to revenge the death of his brother at the hands of the Comanche Indians and takes a Ranger Company with him to look for the Indians. Along the way he meets his old Civil War nemesis, SGT O'Connor who he does battle with as well as well as the Comanche up to the Battle of Palo Duro Canyon where there is a fight to the death.
